How to Make the House Interior Design Process Easier

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

You have just moved into a new home, and you want to decorate in a way that is completely the opposite of how it looks now. You are about to embark on the house interior design process, and it can certainly be a stressful one. However, the house interior design process can be made easier if you know the steps.

The Steps of the House Interior Design Process

The first step in the house interior design process is figuring out if you want to do the house interior design yourself, or if you would like to hire a professional interior designer. If you choose to do it yourself, then you will be saving money. If you hire a professional, it will be more expensive, but with them taking care of the decorating, that gives you more time to do other things.

You have decided to hire a professional interior designer, so now you will have to choose from the many that are in business. If you have family or friends that have had an interior designer create the look of their home, and you like that look, ask them how to contact the designers that they used. You can also search the internet, compare prices, and also compare the design examples that are provided.

Once you have selected a designer, be sure that you meet with the designer or designers several times, so that together you can come up with a great look. The amount of input you have on the design process will vary. Depending on the designer, you might be allowed to choose the design items, but be aware that the designer’s job is to create a look of their own.

Also, you are going to have to specify just how much decorating you want done in your home, depending on how much money you are willing to spend. Some people want their entire house redecorated, while others want only a room done. You can also, to save money but still get the house decorated, have the most important room decorated first, and then have the other rooms decorated at another time.

Perhaps the most important thing is to spend within your budget, and at the same time be sure that your home has the look that you have always wanted. House interior design can indeed be a complicated process, but it can also be a very rewarding process.

With Paint, You Can Create Many Home Interior Design Ideas

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

If you are thinking of redoing your home, chances are that you would like to think of some creative home interior design ideas that you can implement into the look of your home. You have many choices when it comes to decorating, but with paint, you can come up with many home interior design ideas.

Be Creative!

For thousands of years, paint has been used in one form or another, all for some form of decoration. When it comes to home interior design ideas, there are two main categories of things that you can paint: furniture, and walls.

Now, you obviously cannot just paint any kind of furniture that you own. If you did that, chances are that your home interior design ideas would end up with an overly decorative appearance. Rather, if you are skillful with a brush, consider painting wooden furniture.

Many people get some creative home interior design ideas by visiting craft fairs. If you have been to a craft fair, usually you will notice that there is at least one vendor that offers painted furniture. This painted furniture often comes in the form of chests, tables, and chairs.

If you are not particularly skillful at painting, then consider buying furniture that has already been painted at one of these craft fairs, or at a specialty furniture store. Sometimes, you can have the artisan paint whatever you want on your own pieces of furniture.

Another way that paint can be implemented into home interior design ideas is through the look of your wall. Painting a wall in whatever color you prefer is a welcome alternative to wallpapering, which is becoming outdated. You can paint the wall all one color, or you can also, with stencils, paint a border around the tope edge of the wall.

A home interior design idea that is unique and fun at the same time is using a sponge to create a unique pattern on an already-painted wall. All you have to do is choose a sponge, put some paint in a pan, dip the sponge in the paint, and apply the paint to the wall.

Remember, that if you are not used to painting, be sure to practice a little bit or hire a professional. You don’t want to waste money and paint! Painting really makes for a fun hobby, and makes for many great home interior design ideas.

Plants: A Unique Aspect of Home Interior Design

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

When you think of home interior design, chances are that you initially think of such things as wall colors and curtains. However, home interior design can include the implementation of many different things to make a home look it best. Plants are an example of a form of home interior design that is becoming more and more popular.

Why Plants Aren’t Just for Gardens

Plants really are versatile. They come in food form, medicinal form, and of course decorative form. If plants are used to make one’s garden or yard look pretty, then they certainly can be used as a form of home interior design.

Say, for example, that you are a fan of the Southwest, and your home reflects that genre of home interior design. What plant do you normally associate with the Southwest? The cactus, of course, and yes, they do sometimes need to be watered.

There are many different kinds of cacti that you can choose, from ones that grow very tall, to ones that are very small. Be sure to place it in a decorative pot as part of the home interior design.

If you are a fan of a tropical home interior design, then an excellent type of plant to include in your home is a banana plant. This plant grows to be fairly tall, so be sure to give it plenty of room in a nice pot. Perhaps the most notable feature of this plant is its large, broad leaves, which are sure to give your home that tropical look that you desire.

If you are looking to add some color to your home, then consider getting a hanging flowering plant, and place it in the corner of a room where it can get an ample amount of sunlight. This kind of plant can be hung from a hook that is inserted into the ceiling, or it can be placed on a special stand.

If you have allergies, don’t think that you have to forgo having plants as part of your home interior design! Simply go to a local store and purchase a fake plant, which can look just as good as a real one.

Also, before you get a plant, be sure that it won’t be eaten by a pet. To ensure the safety of the pet and the plant, place the plant so it is well out of the pet’s reach. Plants are a lovely way to add some atmosphere to your home, so the next time you are at a garden store, consider taking some plants home and making them part of your home interior design.
